By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City Council Graveyard Section employee, identified as 30-year-old Isaiah Willacey Jr., has been criminally charged with harm following allegations that he assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at his home in the Buttonwood Bay area.

According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, when the victim, a 28-year-old receptionist, reported to the Gender-Based Violence Unit that Willacey attacked her after he allegedly searched her purse, found a note with another man’s name—“Mark”—and confronted her about it. The woman reportedly admitted to having spoken with the man while she and Willacey were separated.

She told police that Willacey became enraged, hit her several times in the face and ribs, choked her, bit her on the right cheek, and kicked her, causing pain and injuries. She also claimed he took her black iPhone valued at $1,000 and $100 in cash before she fled the house in fear for her life.

Police later contacted Willacey, but he did not respond immediately. The following day, both parties appeared together at the police station, where the woman said she had retrieved her belongings—including her phone and money—and no longer wished to pursue court action. However, despite her change of heart, police proceeded with charges against Willacey.

Willacey appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #1 last week, where he was read a single charge of harm. He pleaded not guilty, telling the court that his girlfriend wanted to withdraw the charge, though she did not appear in court.

He was granted bail of $700 plus one surety of the same amount with several conditions, including that he must remain 100 yards away from the virtual complainant and have no communication with her. The court also warned him not to pressure the woman into dropping the charge, emphasizing that any withdrawal must be made voluntarily.

Willacey’s next court date is set for November 25, 2025, when disclosure in the case is expected to be provided.
