By Zoila Palma: Dr. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Transformation, participated as a panelist at the 7th Korea–Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Business Summit, where discussions focused on “The Evolving Trade, Investment, and Innovation Landscape: Advancing Korea–LAC Economic Cooperation.”
During the session, Dr. Martinez highlighted the importance of strengthening trade and investment ties between Belize and the Republic of Korea, emphasizing opportunities in public–private partnerships, access to affordable financing for MSMEs, and collaboration through the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) financial mechanisms.
He also showcased Belize’s national development agenda and economic comparative advantages, positioning the country as an emerging destination for sustainable investment and innovation.
Dr. Martinez further outlined Belize’s potential to become a future logistics hub for the region.
With the planned new cargo port and the regional integration of the Tren Maya project, Belize’s strategic geographic location could serve as a vital link connecting the Pacific corridor to the Atlantic, enabling expanded trade and logistics services throughout CARICOM and southern Mexico.
