By Zoila Palma: Members of the 2025 Central America Tourism Exploration Delegation from Taiwan continued their journey through Belize on October 25 with a visit to one of the country’s most celebrated natural and cultural wonders — the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Archaeological Reserve.
Nestled deep within the Belizean rainforest, the ATM Cave is renowned for its stunning limestone formations and remarkable preservation of ancient Maya artifacts, including ceremonial pottery and skeletal remains.
The site offers visitors a rare and awe-inspiring glimpse into the spiritual and cultural life of the ancient Maya civilization.
Following their cave expedition, the Taiwanese tourism operators met with local industry stakeholders in San Ignacio, engaging in discussions centered on tourism cooperation and cultural exchange.
The dialogue focused on strengthening Taiwan-Belize tourism ties through collaborative marketing, knowledge sharing, and the development of business-to-business (B2B) partnerships.
The visit to the ATM Cave marks the second stop on the delegation’s tour across Belize, part of a broader regional initiative to deepen tourism linkages between Taiwan and Central America.
