By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service says Belize will continue to experience fair and stable weather conditions today, despite the presence of powerful Hurricane Melissa over the western Caribbean.
Forecaster Michelle Augustine explained that a light north to northeasterly airflow will maintain warm, mostly sunny conditions with occasional cloudy periods and a few brief coastal showers.
Tonight is expected to be partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly offshore.
At sea, conditions remain choppy, with winds from the north-northeast at 5–15 knots and wave heights between 3–5 feet.
Temperatures will range from 87°F on the coast, 91°F inland, and 81°F in the higher elevations, cooling to 76°F, 71°F, and 66°F respectively overnight.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Melissa continues to intensify south of Jamaica, now packing 140 mph winds as a Category 4 hurricane. Despite its strength, Melissa does not pose any direct threat to Belize at this time.
The outlook for Monday and Monday night calls for isolated showers, with a few more possible along the north coast late Monday night.
