By Zoila Palma: The Belize Defence Force (BDF) has strengthened its partnership with conservation groups by supporting a First Responder Training for Friends for Conservation and Development (FCD) rangers, held from October 22–24, 2025, at the Las Cuevas Research Station in the Chiquibul Forest.
The training, led by Private Shimron Acosta, a BDF Combat Medic and Emergency Medical Technician, focused on emergency response and life-saving techniques to enhance the rangers’ capacity to manage medical situations in remote and challenging field environments.
Participants received hands-on instruction in basic trauma care, patient stabilization, and field evacuation procedures.
The BDF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national partners in strengthening security, safety, and conservation across Belize.
