The Belize Women’s National Volleyball Team will play for the bronze medal on Tuesday at the XII Juegos Centroamericanos in Guatemala City after falling 3–1 to Nicaragua in Monday’s semifinal match.
Despite a valiant effort, Belize were outpaced by the Group A runners-up Nicaragua, who secured their spot in the final with a 25–19, 25–14, 22–25, 25–18 victory at the Gimnasio Teodoro Palacios Flores. Belize showed resilience in the third set, rallying to a 25–22 win, but Nicaragua closed out the match in four sets.
With the loss, Belize now turn their focus to the bronze medal match against Guatemala—a team they’ve already conquered in group play. That thrilling five-set victory on Saturday (23–25, 25–22, 25–21, 25–27, 15–12) remains a highlight of Belize’s historic run, and they’ll be looking to repeat that performance when they meet again.
Meanwhile, Nicaragua will face Costa Rica in Tuesday’s gold medal final. Costa Rica advanced earlier on Monday with a commanding 3–0 win over Guatemala (25–23, 25–12, 25–12).
In other placement matches, El Salvador claimed fifth place with a hard-fought 3–2 win over Honduras (22–25, 25–15, 19–25, 25–23, 15–8). Honduras will now face Panama for sixth and seventh place.

The Belize Men’s National Volleyball Team are also chasing history. They’ll face Nicaragua tonight at 8:00 pm in the men’s semifinal—their first appearance at this stage since 1997, when they earned the bronze medal. With momentum building, the men’s team will be looking to secure a spot in the final.
