Belize’s Women’s Volleyball Team continued their impressive run at the XII Central American Games at Gimnasio Teodoro Palacios Flores in Guatemala City, edging out the host nation in a dramatic five-set battle on Saturday afternoon. The 3–2 victory (23–25, 25–22, 25–21, 25–27, 15–12) over Guatemala keeps Belize undefeated in group play after opening the tournament with a 3–1 win over Honduras on Friday.
The tightly contested match saw both teams trading momentum throughout, with Belize showing grit and composure in the decisive fifth set. After splitting the first four sets, the Belizean side surged ahead in the final frame, sealing the win 15–12 and silencing the home crowd.

The team’s blend of power at the net and resilience in defense has made them one of the standout squads of the tournament so far.
Meanwhile, attention now turns to the men’s competition, where Belize face Costa Rica later this evening. The men’s team opened their campaign with a commanding 3–0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) sweep over Honduras on Friday and will be looking to build on that momentum against a strong Costa Rican side that also won on Friday.
As the Games progress, Belize’s volleyball teams are making a bold statement on the regional stage, displaying the nation’s growing strength in the sport.
