By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize will be represented in 16 sporting disciplines at the 12th Central American Games in Guatemala, marking one of the country’s most comprehensive delegations in recent years. The Games, which run from 14 to 30 October, feature 55 disciplines in total and bring together athletes from across the region in a celebration of competition and camaraderie.
Head of Mission Herman Pastor confirmed that Belize’s athletes will compete in the following sports:
- Aquatics
- Basketball (Men)
- Billiards
- Canoeing
- Cycling
- Fencing
- Golf
- Judo
- Sailing
- Rugby
- Softball (Men and Women)
- Taekwondo
- Tennis
- Triathlon
- Volleyball (Men and Women)
- Weightlifting
The first wave of athletes arrived in Guatemala City early Wednesday morning, with teams from softball, volleyball, fencing, tennis, and judo settling in and preparing for competition.
Belize’s participation reflects a growing commitment to regional sport and athlete development, with hopes high for strong performances.
