By Zoila Palma: The Belize Boxing Development Council (BBDC) has announced the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) approval and sanctioning of the FECARBOX Silver Super Lightweight Championship bout between Belize’s own Amir “Kingmir” Rudon and Mexico’s Carlos “El Explosivo” Elvira. The much-anticipated fight will headline the Alpha Boxing Fight Night on November 22, 2025, at the Swift Hall in Belize City.
This championship marks a major milestone for the local sporting community.
While several Belizean athletes have competed in regional title bouts before, Rudon will be the first homegrown fighter — born, trained, and developed entirely within Belize — to challenge for a WBC regional title in over four decades.
His rise reflects the progress of Belize’s boxing development programs, the dedication of local coaches, and the growing technical expertise fostered under the BBDC’s guidance.
The Council says the WBC’s sanctioning of this fight reinforces its ongoing efforts to strengthen Belize’s position in the international boxing arena.
It also underscores the success of initiatives aimed at creating a sustainable boxing ecosystem that nurtures athletes from grassroots training to professional championship levels. The BBDC is calling on corporate sponsors, community organizations, and sports supporters to rally behind this historic event, which represents a major step forward for Belizean boxing.
The BBDC also reaffirmed its strong partnership with the WBC, which has enabled Belize to host multiple sanctioned bouts and train local referees and judges to international standards.
The Council’s immediate priority is ensuring the successful staging of the Rudon–Elvira championship bout, while its official training and certification programs will resume in the next calendar year.
