By Zoila Palma: Oceana Belize hosted its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, October 4 at the St. Catherine’s Academy Mercy Center, bringing together more than 300 Wavemakers and ocean advocates from across the country for an inspiring celebration of conservation and community.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of this year’s awardees.
Brianna Boyd was named National Wavemaker of the Year for her outstanding dedication to marine protection, while Hamanasi Resort received the Partner of the Year award for its continued commitment to sustainable tourism and ocean stewardship.
Guest speaker Jamal Galves, renowned marine conservationist, delivered an inspiring address titled “An Ocean Between Us.”
He spoke about the deep connections shared by people through the world’s oceans and encouraged participants to take action—no matter how small—to create lasting change.
The event also featured Miss Universe Belize 2025, Isabella Zabaneh, who joined in presenting awards and celebrating Belize’s vibrant conservation community.
