By Aaron Humes: In a significant drug-related case, a pair of Customs and Excise Department officers, Atlee and Sheryl Castillo, were charged today with abetment to the importation of 68.69 kilos or 151 pounds of high-grade marijuana.
The pair appeared in court this morning, accompanied by their attorney, Richard “Dickie” Bradley, while the prosecution was represented by Director of Public Prosecutions Senior Counsel Cheryl-Lynn Vidal.
The charges stem from the siblings’ alleged involvement in the importation of marijuana, which they allegedly tried to pass off as bath and body products.
The court offered bail set at $20,000 for each sibling. However, the court imposed a crucial condition: both Atlee and Sheryl Castillo must surrender all travel documents, restricting their ability to leave the country while the case proceeds.
