By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident that occurred on Friday, September 26, on the Philip Goldson Highway has resulted in the formal arrest and charging of a 17-year-old male on Wednesday. The teen faces two counts of attempted murder.
According to police, the shooting took place around 4:03 PM near NAPA Auto Parts at approximately 3 1/2 miles along the highway. Upon arrival, police discovered multiple expended 9mm shell casings scattered in front of NAPA Auto Parts as well as near Meheia Construction Company, about 100 feet away.
Initial investigations revealed that three Belizean BDF soldiers—Glenford Reid, 36, Joshua Augustine, 28, and Erwin Rhamdas—were traveling in a Blue 2014 Chevrolet Equinox SUV when they were ambushed. Reports indicate that a Gold Nissan Murano SUV, which was parked in front of NAPA Auto Parts, had three occupants. One of them exited the vehicle armed and began firing at the Equinox.
The Equinox veered off in the opposite direction but ultimately came to a stop in front of Meheia Construction Company. The occupants exited the vehicle and were subsequently shot at. Glenford Reid sustained two gunshot wounds to the right leg, while also damaging a nearby White 2018 Ford F-150 pickup belonging to Meheia Construction Company.
Both Reid and Augustine were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for medical treatment.
