By Zoila Palma: Belize is being represented at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s State of the Tourism Industry Conference, taking place from September 30 to October 3 in Barbados.
The event brings together regional leaders and stakeholders to discuss the role of tourism in strengthening economies, preserving culture, and supporting communities under the theme, “Reimagining Caribbean Tourism: Research, Relevance and the Road Ahead.”
Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations Anthony Mahler, along with CEO Nicole Usher, are leading Belize’s delegation at the high-level gathering. The conference features panel discussions, research presentations, and strategic dialogues aimed at shaping the future of the tourism sector across the Caribbean.
Earlier today, Minister Mahler joined a panel discussion titled “Powering the Future of Caribbean Tourism: A Ministerial Exchange.”
The session explored key issues such as sustainable development, airlift, crisis resilience, and inter-island collaboration.
Regional ministers shared insights on how public policy, innovation, and investment can drive inclusive growth within the tourism industry.
The conference serves as an important platform for governments and private sector leaders to exchange ideas and identify opportunities to ensure long-term success and resilience for Caribbean tourism.
