By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 22-year-old Belize City labourer has been remanded to prison for possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and fined for a previous conviction before being allowed bail.

Kenrick Gonzalez, of #21 Golden Street, appeared before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after police found him with 2.2 grams of crack cocaine on Linda Vista Street on September 25, 2025. He was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Gonzalez pleaded not guilty, and while the court granted bail of $4,000 plus one surety, he was unable to post it. The sitting magistrate also reminded him of an old outstanding fine of $605 for a prior aggravated assault conviction, which had to be settled before any bail could be accepted.

As a result, Gonzalez was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court date, scheduled for November 14, 2025.
