By Aaron Humes: Today, Wednesday, October 1, police formally arrested and charged a 26-year-old Belizean police officer with the crime of rape, but the police press department will not release his name “to protect the victim’s identity”. This is normally done in cases when the victim is raped by a relative, however, in this case no such specification has been made.
A 22-year-old Belizean woman from southern Belize reported that on Friday, September 26, about 11:30 p.m., she was socializing with friends and family. After socializing, she was offered a ride home and she alleges she was raped during the journey.
