By Aaron Humes: Police have formally arrested and charged 22-year-old Jael Felicito Ayala Coronado with Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Maim.
After being set upon Sunday night in San Lazaro Village, 37-year-old Edwardo Contreras is fighting for his life following a brutal chopping attack. Contreras was admitted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) with severe injuries sustained during a violent altercation involving two other men.
According to police reports, officers responded to the scene after receiving a call about the incident. Upon arrival, they discovered Contreras with multiple chop wounds to the head and body. Preliminary investigations indicate that the altercation stemmed from a heated argument between Contreras and two individuals identified as Jael Coronado and Alfredo Coronado.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero provided further details on the incident. “Our investigation shows that Edwardo Contreras was drinking at a local shop when a disagreement escalated into violence. Both Jael and Alfredo Coronado produced machetes, leading to the vicious attack on Contreras,” he stated.
He confirmed that they continue to search for Alfredo Coronado. Contreras remains in critical condition. Police encourage anyone with additional information about Alfredo Coronado’s whereabouts to come forward.
