By Aaron Humes: Less than two hours after the murder of Gaston Barrow on Sunday, a gunman targeted 45 year old Moses Almendarez Sr. He was riding his bicycle near his home on Hercilett Moody Street when he was ambushed by a gunman.
Two years ago Almendarez was claiming police harassment due to his criminal past and swearing he had reformed, but that didn’t matter to a gunman waiting for him in the bushes.
His sister told reporters that he was a ‘street general’ for the Opposition United Democratic Party and alleged that he still had a pulse when he was found even though he was coughing up blood, but died while en route to hospital.
Police say the motive was gang-related and specifically a retaliation for the earlier shooting; two suspects are being sought.
