By Zoila Palma: BELTRAIDE, in collaboration with the Belize Tax Service Department, the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, and the Department of Local Government, has launched the new Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Tax Amnesty Programme.
The initiative, announced at a press conference today, aims to help small business owners transition into compliance with tax regulations.
Under the programme, entrepreneurs who have been operating without formal registration can now regularize their status.
Those who apply will receive a one-year exemption from business tax starting from the date they obtain the MSME Tax Amnesty Certificate.
Additionally, participants will not be held liable for accrued penalties or interest on past business tax obligations.
To expand access, the agencies will host countrywide roadshows to connect directly with business owners.
Interested participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as the application deadline is October 29, 2025.
