By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident near Old Belize Sunday evening resulted in the death of 26-year-old Gasman Barrow and left another man injured.
According to Police, shots were fired at approximately 6:00 PM as Barrow, a local fisherman, and his friends were leaving Old Belize. Barrow was a passenger in a grey Chevy Malibu, driven by Hance Card, 30, a mechanic who also sustained gunshot injuries in the attack.
Initial investigations reveal that, as the vehicle exited the parking lot, an unknown man emerged from a gold Dodge Caravan and opened fire on the Malibu. The shooter, after targeting the occupants, made a quick escape in the same vehicle, heading towards the George Price Highway.
Barrow was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Medical personnel reported that Card is in stable condition and receiving treatment for his injuries.
The Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
