By Zoila Palma: The Government of Belize has announced the launch of a national roadshow to promote the MSME Tax Amnesty Programme, beginning with a press conference on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the BTEC Innovation Room, ITVET Campus in Belize City.
The initiative is being spearheaded by the Office of the Prime Minister in collaboration with BELTRAIDE, the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), the Belize Tax Service (BTS), the Belize Companies & Corporate Registry (BCCAR), and the Economic Development Council (EDC).
The programme is designed to ease financial burdens for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) while encouraging greater formalization in the sector.
Through the amnesty, eligible MSMEs will receive waivers on accrued business tax penalties and interest, as well as exemptions from business tax payments for up to one year once qualified.
During the roadshow, participants will have the chance to register directly with the relevant agencies and receive their official Tax Amnesty Certificate.
The roadshow will cover all municipalities, with stops in Belize City, Corozal, Orange Walk, Punta Gorda, Independence, Hopkins, Dangriga, Benque Viejo, San Ignacio/Santa Elena, San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Belmopan throughout October.
The government is encouraging all MSMEs to take advantage of this opportunity for relief and growth.
