By Zoila Palma: Today, September 26, the National AIDS Commission joins the global community in observing World Contraception Day, highlighting the importance of access to safe, effective, and affordable contraception.
This year’s theme, “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: Contraceptive Access for All,” focuses on removing obstacles that prevent individuals from making informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health.
Contraceptives—including pills, implants, IUDs, surgical procedures, and condoms—help prevent unintended pregnancies, protect health and well-being, and support autonomy in reproductive decisions.
The Commission emphasizes that access to contraception is a human right and vital for building healthier, stronger communities.
