By Zoila Palma: The Fisheries Department has announced that the Queen Conch (Strombus gigas) season will officially run from October 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, in accordance with the Fisheries Resources Act, Chapter 210. The season may close earlier if the national conch quota is reached.
Regulations prohibit harvesting or possessing conch during the closed season (July 1–September 30) and set minimum size and weight limits for all conch products. Special permits are required for the sale or possession of filleted or diced conch meat, and exports cannot exceed quotas granted under the law.
The Fisheries Department urges the public to report any illegal activities at 224-4552 or via email at fisheries_department@fisheries.gov.bz
