By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans woke up to another cloudy morning as moist and unstable weather continues to dominate the skies. The National Meteorological Service reports that a mix of showers and isolated thunderstorms is affecting much of the country, with conditions expected to ease by this afternoon before redeveloping tonight over southern areas.
Today’s general forecast calls for cloudy skies with only a few sunny breaks. Showers and thunderstorms will decrease after midday but will return later tonight, particularly across the south. Marine conditions remain choppy with east to southeast winds blowing at 5 to 15 knots and waves between 3 to 5 feet, so small craft operators are advised to exercise caution.
Temperatures remain warm, with highs of 88°F along the coast, 93°F inland, and 78°F in the hills. Tonight’s lows will dip to 79°F on the coast, 74°F inland, and 67°F in the higher elevations.
Looking ahead, Thursday is expected to bring only isolated showers or thunderstorms, with a few more likely in the south during the night.
While Hurricane Gabrielle churns far out in the Atlantic and poses no threat to Belize, forecasters are keeping a close eye on Tropical Wave AL93 east of the Lesser Antilles, which now shows a high chance of development. Officials stress that the system is not expected to threaten Belize.
