By Zoila Palma: In observance of National Service Day, the Pesticides Control Board (PCB) launched a farm cleanup campaign on Friday, highlighting responsible pesticide management and environmental stewardship.
PCB staff volunteered in the field, assisting a local farmer in properly handling and disposing of waste pesticide containers.
The campaign emphasizes safe practices, including triple rinsing empty containers, rendering them unusable through cutting or shredding, and ensuring proper storage prior to final disposal.
The Board is also collaborating with public and private stakeholders to develop a national mechanism for empty pesticide container management, ensuring final disposal by competent parties.
The PCB expressed gratitude to Belizean farmers for their dedication in producing safe and nutritious food for the nation.
