By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have confirmed the passing of Police Constable Karen August, attached to the San Ignacio Police Formation, who succumbed to injuries at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) following a hit-and-run accident on Sunday, September 7.
PC August, the mother of two, fought for her life for nearly two weeks before her passing.
On Friday, September 12, authorities arrested and charged 31-year-old Dijon McNab, a San Ignacio businessman, in connection with the incident.
McNab was initially charged with multiple traffic and criminal offenses, including Negligent Grievous Harm, Negligent Wounding, Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Failing to Keep as Close as Possible on the Right-Hand Side of the Road, Failing to Stop and Render Aid, and Failing to Report an Accident.
The tragic loss of PC August has deeply affected her colleagues, family, and the wider community.
