By Breaking Belize News Staff: Omar Victor Zelaya, 43, is facing his second theft allegation this year after being accused of stealing a woman’s cellphone. Zelaya, who claims to work in real estate and phone repairs, appeared in Court #5 of the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he was formally charged with the theft of a woman’s LG cellphone valued at $600.

At his arraignment, Zelaya pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $600 with one surety of the same amount, but he was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison. His next court date is scheduled for November 17, 2025.

Earlier this year, in January, Zelaya was charged with stealing a 26-inch male-frame bicycle valued at $150. He had pleaded not guilty and was granted bail, but the charge was later dismissed in March when the complainant requested no further action.

Police say the latest charge marks Zelaya’s second theft allegation for 2025.
