By Aaron Humes: The 50th Belize City Carnival’s top prizes went to the Soca Moca senior band and Soca Massive junior band.
Soca Moca edged Mother Nature’s Creation for top prize in the Senior Division, with two other bands disqualified.
In the junior category, Soca Massive defeated Sunshine Masqueraders and Black Pearl bands for top honors.
Two other bands were non-competitors: Belizean Jewel and Titans Mas Band.
Bands were judged both at mas camps during the week and in the Road March for costume durability, color, presentation and energy.
Corozal and Orange Walk will hit the road for their versions of the Road March on September 13 and 21 respectively.
