By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Napoles travel north on Sunday to face Progresso at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk in a fixture that brings together the top two sides in the Premier League of Belize. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

Belmopan’s Napoles, the newest club in the PLB, remain unbeaten after three rounds and lead the standings with seven points. Last Sunday, they edged Port Layola 1–0 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan. The decisive goal came in the 36th minute through Kallai Cho, who finished from close range after a well-worked move down the left. Napoles held firm in the second half to secure their second win of the season.

Aware that a strong start alone won’t carry them through the season, Napoles are reinforcing their roster. On Friday, the club announced the signing of two young Colombian attackers—Jhoan Villalba (19) and Cesar Vila Perez (21).

“We are finalizing our roster and we welcome these exciting young talents! We need help scoring more goals! Hopefully we see one or both of them this weekend!” the club posted. The post said both players fit the mold of Napoles FC and could feature in Sunday’s clash.

“We are the surprise team of the season!! We will battle because we represent the Capital City! We represent Belmopan!” Napoles FC said.

Progresso sit second with five points. They earned their first victory last weekend with a 5–1 win over Capital Sport Club at the People’s Stadium. Rene Leslie scored twice, Latrell Middleton added a third, and Keydenshaay Bowen netted two stoppage-time goals to complete the rout. Capital pulled one back through Raheem Eagan in the 58th minute, but Progresso responded immediately.

Progresso have also strengthened their squad, adding Leslie and Middleton from Port Layola and Bowen from the now inactive San Pedro Pirates. The additions have already paid dividends, with all three contributing to last weekend’s win.

Sunday’s match will be the first PLB meeting between Napoles and Progresso. Both clubs have shown early consistency, and the result will determine who holds first place heading into Week 5.
