By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As Week 4 kicks off in the Premier League of Belize, three matchups promise to shake up the standings while Port Loyola take a scheduled rest. But the spotlight falls squarely on Orange Walk, where surprise leaders Napoles FC travel north to face second-place Progresso FC in a clash that could redefine the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Capital Sport Club — playing under the Benque Viejo United franchise — head to Belmopan in search of their first points, hoping to reverse a rough start against a steady Belmopan FC side. Down south, Wagiya SC host Verdes FC in Dangriga, still chasing their first result after three straight losses

Saturday, August 23 – Isidoro Beaton Stadium, Belmopan

Capital Sport Club vs. Belmopan FC – 7:30 pm

The bottom-ranked Capital Sport Club travel to the heart of the country to face Belmopan FC, who sit fourth with four points. After conceding 11 goals in just two matches, Capital Sport Club must tighten their defense to avoid another punishing result. Belmopan, unbeaten so far, will look to capitalize on their home turf and climb into the top three.

Sunday, August 24 – Carl Ramos Stadium, Dangriga

Wagiya SC vs. Verdes FC – 4:00 pm

Two of Belize’s oldest football institutions meet in Dangriga, but their trajectories couldn’t be more different. Wagiya SC, winless and sitting at the bottom of the table, are still searching for their first point after three straight defeats and a -7 goal differential. Verdes FC, the defending national champions, arrive in third place with four points from two matches and eight goals scored. Yet they’re also coming off one of their worst international outings — an 8–1 loss to CS Cartaginés on Wednesday night in Cartago, Costa Rica, in the Central American Cup. That result may sting, but it could also fuel Verdes’ domestic response. Wagiya will need grit and discipline to hold off a side eager to reassert its dominance

Sunday, August 24 – People’s Stadium, Orange Walk

Progresso FC vs. Napoles FC – 4:00 pm

This northern clash could be the match of the weekend. Second-place Progresso, unbeaten with five points, welcome league leaders Napoles FC, who have stunned the competition with two wins and a draw. With both teams boasting strong midfields and disciplined back lines, this could be a tactical battle with top-table implications.
