By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño will travel to Mexico today for a significant trilateral meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo. The gathering aims to strengthen regional cooperation and address shared priorities between the three nations.
Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca explained that the agenda is comprehensive, covering energy, sustainable development, transportation, tourism, and biodiversity. “It’s really about coming together as a result of a shared commitment to preserve and protect our biodiversity,” Fonseca said.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting is expected to be the signing of a binding agreement, referred to as a “PAC”, that will formalize the commitment of all three countries to safeguard biodiversity in their shared spaces. “It’s more than just a symbolic act. This is a legal commitment that underscores our dedication to sustainable development,” Fonseca noted.
The meeting marks an important moment in Belize’s diplomatic calendar, as it solidifies alliances with its immediate neighbors and advances a collective vision for environmental stewardship and regional development.
