By Breaking Belize News Staff: A tropical wave is bringing showers, periods of rain, and a few thunderstorms to northern and central Belize today, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Forecasters say skies will be cloudy at times with showers and thunderstorms more frequent over the north and central regions during the day, shifting mostly to the south tonight. Winds will be from the east to southeast at 10–20 knots, becoming gusty near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Seas will be choppy to rough, with waves between three and seven feet.
Small craft operators are advised to exercise caution due to occasional gusty winds and locally rough seas.
Tropical Storm Erin, located about 1,400 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands, poses no current threat to Belize. Another tropical wave near the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms and is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico later this week.
Thursday’s outlook calls for generally fair weather with only isolated showers or thunderstorms.
