By Zoila Palma: Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, Kareem Musa, recently visited police officers stationed in Division 3 of the Eastern Division Rural, including Ladyville, Burrell Boom, Bermudian Landing and Sand Hill, as part of ongoing efforts to improve welfare and operational conditions within the police department.
Musa, accompanied by Chief Executive Officer Sharole Carr, met with officers from these stations as well as from Maskall and Bomba, engaging in discussions on the challenges faced by frontline personnel and outlining plans to enhance facilities, provide better equipment, and ensure a safer and more supportive work environment.
“Supporting the well-being of our officers and creating better working environments are essential to strengthening the police force,” Musa said.
The Minister also reminded officers about the ministry’s welfare initiatives, including access to land for first-time applicants within the force, and emphasized the availability of counseling and mental health support through the Lotus Center.
The visit forms part of a broader strategy by the ministry to ensure that officers serving rural communities have the resources and support needed to effectively engage with the public and maintain community safety.
