By Rubén Morales Iglesias: At 20, Khaya Gordon elevated herself into the regional spotlight, leading Belize to its first U-23 title while earning Most Valuable Player and Best Attacker honours. Her performance throughout the tournament was not only consistent — it was surgical.
Gordon’s offensive efficiency led all attackers with a remarkable 46.3% success rate, scoring 50 kills out of 108 attempts. Her controlled aggression at the net anchored Belize’s offense, especially in tense moments like the championship match against Guatemala where she tallied 15 points, helping to quell a third-set resurgence by the rivals. In total, she scored 61 points, the third highest of the tournament.
Beyond attack, Gordon displayed elite versatility. Her 9 aces placed her among the top five servers, adding another layer to her game. As Belize dominated the field, Gordon’s presence ensured rhythm, confidence, and execution — a complete package rarely seen at this level.
Gordon never panicked. Her calm under pressure and precise attacking were key to Belize’s undefeated run.
