By Breaking Belize News Staff: Just days after his mother publicly warned the court that her son had threatened to kill the entire family, 30-year-old Nyere Parchue is now behind bars, this time for harming his 8-year-old nephew.
Parchue appeared on Monday morning before Magistrate Ludlow Black in Court #4, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of harm. The charge stems from an incident on Friday, July 18, 2025, in which he reportedly punched the child in the face. The child, whose parents are not living with him, reportedly lives in the same household as Parchue.
In court, Parchue claimed he was merely disciplining the boy, saying, “I only gave him a tiny little bat. Nothing much, you know.” According to medical reports, however, the child had visible swelling to the left side of his face measuring approximately one centimeter.
Despite facing a potential five-year prison sentence for the offense, Parchue was spared jail time and instead fined $800 plus $5 in court costs, with a deadline to pay by September 29, 2025. If unpaid, he will face one year imprisonment in default.
However, Parchue’s freedom was short-lived. Due to outstanding court fines totaling $360 from three traffic convictions last week—including driving without insurance, with no valid driver’s license, and with an unlicensed vehicle—he was ordered to pay $150 immediately to avoid further detention. Unable to pay, he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
The court heard last week that Parchue’s mother had expressed grave concern for the safety of her family, alleging that her son had made threats to harm them all. With two recent convictions in the span of five days, authorities now have him in custody—either until he pays his fines or serves the corresponding jail time.
