By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 28-year-old Belize City man who admitted to snatching a woman’s purse containing nearly $500 in valuables has been fined $355 after pleading guilty to theft.
Hubert Frazer appeared before Magistrate Ludlow Black on Monday and accepted responsibility for stealing a woman’s $25 handbag, which contained a $350 smartphone, a $20 phone case, and a $25 Bath & Body Works gift set.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 11, on Antelope Street. According to reports, Frazer wrestled with the victim to overpower her and take the bag.
Although the court found aggravating factors in the forceful nature of the theft, Frazer’s early guilty plea and lack of prior convictions led Magistrate Black to impose a non-custodial sentence. He was ordered to pay a $350 fine plus $5 in court costs by August 29, 2025, or face four months in prison.
