Mount Carmel R.C. Primary School in Benque Viejo Town opened its doors to children with special needs in January 2023, to 14 students with diverse abilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Apraxia, Dandy walker syndrome and Visual Impairment. It started with Mrs. Mckenna Choj and then in September 2023 Mrs. Nancy Pat Casimiro joined the team. Both teachers have Special Education degrees and are experts in the field.
MCPS special education is a one-of-a-kind class that provides students with tailored instruction, support, and resources, ensuring they have an equal opportunity to learn and succeed. As it focuses on Individualized Education Plans with modified curriculum and specialized support services to address each student’s unique needs. The main goal is to help students with special needs reach their full potential and become more self-sufficient and socially involved. Through the special education class, the school has seen students adapting to changes and becoming more active in the regular classroom.
This year, Mount Carmel R.C Primary Special Education will be celebrating three main accomplishments:
- Farewell to Benzel Salazar, as he will be officially branching off to high school.
- Hamza Pacheco’s Graduation from Special Education. He is our first graduate as he has accomplished his IEP goals and has met the requirements to remain fully in the general classroom.
- Pass over of Anthony Perez, as he has accomplished his IEP goals and has met the requirements to join the general education classroom.
These significant achievements are a testament of two years of hard work and dedication of the students with assistance from their parents, general and special education teachers.
