By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Measles remains a concern as the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) continues heightened monitoring efforts, with nine cases confirmed through laboratory testing and 13 additional cases epidemiologically linked since the outbreak’s onset. As part of its surveillance initiatives, the MOHW has collected samples from 69 individuals experiencing fever and rash symptoms, of which 66—representing 95%—have been processed.
The Ministry continues to stress the importance of vaccination, particularly for children under five and young people who face a higher risk of complications. The MOHW reiterated that the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is both safe and effective in protecting individuals against the disease.
Public cooperation has played a vital role in containment efforts, and MOHW expressed their gratitude to both citizens and healthcare workers for their ongoing commitment. They also extend appreciation to health professionals, both public and private, for their dedication in controlling the spread of measles.
As enhanced surveillance efforts continue nationwide, the Ministry urges residents to remain vigilant and seek medical attention if symptoms arise. Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
