By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) will take to the field tonight in an international friendly before turning their focus to the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The match against Mexican exhibition club Deportivo Aragón kicks off at 7:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, offering the BMNT one last chance to fine-tune their game ahead of next month’s crucial matches.

This friendly serves as an important test for BMNT, who begin their qualifying campaign on June 4 with an away fixture against Montserrat in Trinidad and Tobago before hosting Panama on June 7 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

Under the leadership of Uruguayan technical director Daniel Bartolotta and an experienced Mexican coaching staff, BMNT has intensified its preparations with tactical training, sports psychology sessions, and team-building exercises designed to strengthen cohesion and mental resilience.

The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) has ensured the match runs smoothly by handling logistical arrangements for Deportivo Aragón, including accommodation, meals, and local transportation during their stay in Belize.

Deportivo Aragón, based in Oaxaca, Mexico, have been competing in the Copa Luis R. Conríquez, an international tournament featuring teams from Mexico and the United States. Their squad boasts several players with high-level experience, including Luis Ángel Landín, a former Mexican international who played for Cruz Azul, Morelia, and Querétaro. Landín also made history as Major League Soccer’s first Mexican Designated Player with Houston Dynamo and later won the 2020 Apertura title in Guatemala with Guastatoya.

Other standout veteran players expected to feature for Deportivo Aragón include Yosgart Gutiérrez and Carlos Gutierrez, adding further depth to the visiting squad.

Football enthusiasts eager to watch BMNT’s final test can attend the match with general admission tickets priced at $10, while VIP access is available for $25.
