By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 30-year-old mother of three was convicted on Tuesday in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to possession of a crack pipe, her second conviction for the same offense in just three months.
Priscilla Marie Edwards was jointly charged with Genevieve Christine Estrada, 41, and Rick Scotty Jones, 29, who also reside at the same address. While Estrada and Jones pleaded not guilty, Edwards took responsibility for the offense, leading to the charges being withdrawn against the other two defendants.
During the hearing, Edwards asked the court for leniency, citing her responsibilities as a single mother of three with no one to help care for her children. Despite the repeat offense, the court imposed a non-custodial sentence — a $200 fine plus $5 in court costs, payable by August 29, 2025. Failure to pay will result in two months’ imprisonment.
The bust occurred at her Victoria Street home, where police found her with a 2½-inch metal pipe containing crack cocaine residue — a device adapted for drug use. Her previous conviction on February 24, 2025, involved a similar pipe and resulted in a $75 fine.
Edwards promised the court she would change her life going forward.
