By Zoila Palma:  The Ministry of Health and Wellness has confirmed ongoing measles transmission following two lab-confirmed and five linked clinical cases reported in April.

Authorities are now investigating suspected new cases in Spanish Lookout tied to recent travel from Chihuahua, Mexico. The public is advised to avoid the Spanish Lookout community if unvaccinated.

To prevent further spread, the Ministry urges all eligible individuals to get the MMR vaccine.

Children should receive two doses at 12 and 18 months. Unvaccinated persons over 18 months are advised to get two doses, and those unsure of their status should receive at least one.

Anyone exposed to measles should get vaccinated within three days and consult a healthcare provider. Quarantine guidelines apply for unvaccinated individuals.

The MOHW continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
