By Zoila Palma: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has issued a strong statement condemning a disturbing act of animal cruelty captured on video.
According to Commissioner Williams, the Belize Police Department received a video showing a group of young men inflicting chop wounds to the head of a defenseless horse.
“The Belize Police Department has been furnished with a video depicting a group of young men inflicting chop wounds to the head of a defenseless horse. We condemn this kind of action in the strongest term. As a society we must stand together against all forms of abuses, including those where animals are concerned,” Williams said.
He assured the public that authorities are taking the matter seriously and are actively working to bring those responsible to justice.
“The police department is taking this matter very seriously and assure the general public that we will do all within our power to hold those responsible to justice,” he added.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for stronger enforcement of animal protection laws. An investigation is currently underway.
