By Horace Palacio: The Belize Tourism Board hosted an inspiring evening in celebration of Women’s History Month, honoring 25 trailblazing women in the tourism sector. Held at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza, the “She Leads, We Celebrate” networking event brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and tourism professionals from across the country.
The highlight of the event was a keynote address by Lucy Fleming, co-founder of The Lodge at Chaa Creek, who shared lessons on resilience and leadership. Also addressing the crowd were Nicole Usher-Solano, CEO of the Ministry of Tourism, and Michelle Bowers-Flowers from the BTB. Their remarks spotlighted the need for continued inclusion, innovation, and mentorship across the sector.
A lively panel discussion featured Timotea Mesh, Megs Yearwood, and Rebecca Rath, all of whom shared real-world insights from their own journeys. The event ended with a cocktail hour that encouraged deeper conversations and future collaboration.
Organizers say the celebration was more than a networking event—it was a statement of purpose, reaffirming the role of women in shaping the direction of Belizean tourism.
