By Zoila Palma: Today, the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) received a donation of BZ$283,000 in the form of two vehicles and state-of-the-art IT equipment through a collaboration between the Korean International Cooperation Agency and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This donation is part of a broader initiative entitled the Enabling of Belize’s Statistical Systems Project.
Valued at US$2.7 million, the project was secured with the full support of the Government of Belize through the SIB’s parent ministry, the Ministry of Economic Development.
It aims to address urgent capacity gaps within the SIB and the country’s broader national statistics system.
The Government of Belize and its development partners, the Korean Government, and organizations within the UN system will continue to partner on these enhancements at the SIB, the country’s largest data producer and the coordinator of the nation’s statistics system.
