By Horace Palacio: After a string of hot and dry days, Belize is set for a slight shift in weather patterns as a weak cold front nears the country. This system is expected to bring cooler temperatures, increased cloud cover, and scattered showers throughout the day.
Forecasters predict cloudy skies with a few sunny breaks, but residents should be prepared for periods of light rain, especially over inland areas in the morning and along coastal regions later in the day. Tonight, showers will persist over the central and southern coasts, keeping temperatures mild but slightly damp.
Marine conditions remain relatively calm, with northwest winds between 10-20 knots and waves reaching 3-5 feet. However, boaters and marine operators should remain alert for any shifts in conditions as the cold front settles in.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will see lingering showers along the southern coastline, though these are expected to gradually decrease by nighttime. While this cold front isn’t expected to bring dramatic temperature drops, it will provide a welcome break from the intense heat of recent days.
For those planning outdoor activities, keeping an umbrella handy is advised, as scattered showers may pop up unexpectedly. After weeks of relentless heat, Belizeans can finally look forward to a cooler and more comfortable start to the week.
