By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Belmopan at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan in Week 7 of the Premier League of Belize 2024-2025 Closing Championship.
Progresso’s Colombians came through delivering the victory. Wálter Gómez scored in the 12th minute, and Jhon Vásquez Vergara added another goal in the 61st minute.
Belmopan, who played a brilliant game against Verdes two weeks ago, have since fallen back into their losing ways.
Progresso have faced challenges in this competition, but this victory marks their second win over Belmopan, whom they had previously defeated 5-0 in the first round at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town.
In the other Saturday match, San Pedro Pirates drew 2-2 with Verdes at Ambergris Stadium. The final game of Week 7 will see Port Loyola taking on Wagiya on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
