By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean cyclist Derrick Chavarria continues competing in the 46th Vuelta Ciclística Independencia Nacional 2025 in the Dominican Republic. Following his impressive top finish in the Under-23 category during Stage 2 and a strong seventh-place performance in the mountainous Stage 3 in that same category, Chavarria is participating in Stage 4 today, Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Stage 4 brings a unique challenge with a closed circuit in the iconic Parque Mirador Sur. The cyclists will cover a total distance of 130 kilometers, divided into 13 laps of 10 kilometers each. According to the Dominican Republic’s Cycling Federation, this stage is ideal for speed and strategy specialists, featuring high-speed circuits with multiple turns and constant attacks. The strategic sprints in key laps could significantly impact the sprinters’ classification.
As the race progresses, Belizean cycling fans are following the race to see how Chavarria will fare in this high-stakes stage. With his strong performance so far, he remains a rider to watch in this seven-day event.
