Belize Livestock Producers Association discusses future strategies, elects new board members at 46th AGM

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Key players in the livestock industry discussed the future of the sector, celebrated achievements, and elected new leadership at the 46th Annual General Meeting of the Belize Livestock Producers’ Association (BLPA) last Saturday in Belmopan.

Keynote speaker, Taiwan Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu, highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Belize and Taiwan in advancing the livestock industry. Ambassador Hsu reiterated the significant impact of the collaborative efforts and the potential for continued growth and innovation.

“The BLPA reaffirms its ongoing commitment to supporting livestock producers and promoting sustainable farming practices across Belize,” the BLPA said in a statement.

The BLPA AGM held discussions on key initiatives to boost the sector’s sustainability, profitability, and industry standards, the BLPA said in the statement.

This was followed by the election of five new board members, signaling a renewed commitment to strong leadership within the BLPA. Darrel Tillett, Luis Matute, Frantz Rempel, Gerhard Penner, and Leo Dueck joined Arden Edwards, Kent Diaz, and Peter Fehr, who were already members of the board.

The AGM also provided a platform to recognize outstanding contributions to the livestock industry, adding a layer of celebration to the meeting. An exciting element of the day was the series of raffles, which brought a ‘fun and engaging’ atmosphere to the gathering.

The BLPA thanked the farmers and businesses who made the event a success.
