By Horace Palacio: The Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (PGIA) has issued a warning to the public regarding a social media scam falsely claiming that unclaimed luggage is being sold for BZ$4.21.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the airport clarified that it does not sell unclaimed luggage and advised individuals to avoid clicking on any links associated with the scam. The fraudulent post, which appears to originate from a page called “Unclaimed baggage,” includes images of luggage-filled warehouses and offers delivery within five days. The post also includes a suspicious link directing users to a fake website.

“This post has been brought to our attention. Please note that we are not selling unclaimed luggage. This is a scam, and you should avoid clicking on the link provided,” the airport stated.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious online advertisements to the relevant authorities. Travelers are reminded that legitimate information about airport services is only available through the airport’s official website and verified social media channels.
