By Aaron Humes: According to Belize Water Services Limited (BWS), the entirety of Belize City is presently without water.
As of 12 noon, the company says it has located the affected 24-inch transmission line and is assessing the extent of its damage. No word has been given as to when water will be restored.
In the meantime, BWS advises customers to try to conserve water use by limiting non-essential use – open taps, long showers and baths, repeated flushing of toilets and washing vehicles and where possible reusing water collected from rinsing produce for watering plants and cleaning.
