By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) is hosting its highly anticipated Football Finals today at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City. The event promises an exciting day of football action, featuring both third-place and championship matches.
The day kicked off with the first consolation match (G1) at 8:00 am, with Gwen Lizarraga High School (GLHS) facing off against Wesley College (WES). Following this, the second consolation match (G2) sees Sadie Vernon Technical High School (SVTHS) competing against Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) from 9:25 am to 11:05 am.
The championship matches will begin at 11:10 am with the girls’ final (G3), with Saint Catherine Academy (SCA) battling it out against archrivals Pallotti High School (PHS). The excitement continues with the boys’ final (G4) at 12:35 pm, featuring another showdown between Gwen Lizarraga High School (GLHS) and Wesley College (WES).
Entrance to the event is $5.
The CSSSA Football Finals is a significant event in the local sports calendar, bringing together talented young athletes from various schools who are competing for the right to represent the Central Zone in the upcoming national championship. The National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) championship, which will be hosted by Mount Carmel High School in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Friday, February 21, 2025.
